Spelman College Museum of Fine Art

Spelman College Museum of Fine Art in Atlanta reached out to us in 2019 wanting a website design overhaul with new features. This unique museum opened in 1996 is open to the public as well as the student body. Featuring bold impactful paintings and sculptures by well-known and mature black women artists. The Atlanta University Center keeps it available to the public and also uses it for teaching and learning on the campus.

This was an exciting new project opportunity for us! We had never developed a website for a museum before. Our designers got excited about working with the college to deliver a upgraded user experience design (UXD). Using a custom WordPress platform and WordPress theme all the pieces of this project were designed from scratch. This new responsive website needed to organize and promote new and archived exhibits and collections. We worked meticulously with the board and project managers assigned by the college. For months we communicated and shared ideas to compile a tasteful and accessible web presence for the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art.

Visitors can access collections, exhibits, programs and archived works while getting information on events and museum activities. This museum is on of Atlanta’s art-centric hotspots and Blue Light Labs was more than proud to be selected for this project.
